One of the great (and frankly overlooked) aspects of social media is its ability to bring unrelated things together … in this case a fast food chain and a car manufacturer. Both brands faced quite an obstacle this week, with their Twitter accounts having been hacked. With both brands back to normal, Burger King reached out to Jeep in a simple, yet powerful showing of support.

Would we have seen this love from Burger King if another fast food chain’s account was hacked? Who knows.

I had an amazing season at work. I couldn’t be more grateful to my managers for have given me the opportunity to basically run with any and all ideas I had regarding social media and marketing for the park.

As our eight month-long 50th anniversary celebration drew to a close on Sunday, I was reminded that while I should be thankful for the things I’ve been able to accomplish and the freedom I’ve been given, it all comes down to our guests. Without the guests, there is no Adventureland. Even in the midst of the worst financial crisis in decades, our guests still put in for entertainment and leisure, which during a recession, are often the first things for people to cut back spending on.

And since we’re a local business, our guests are very loyal. Many of the families who walk through the gates can literally trace their visits back through generations. That’s just really cool to see. So since at the end of the day, I should really be thanking the guests for this opportunity, I did just that. I kept our sign-off Facebook post for the season short and simple (as best I know how to, anyway). And all in all, I’m happy with the response it got. Our fans seem very grateful for the season we gave them and are excited for the changes we will be implementing for 2013. And that kind of feedback? That’s what makes the 14-hour days, scorching temperatures and overall stressful situations, yeah, that’s what makes it all worth it.

I’m really trying to take this DJ thing to the next level. It’s risky, but no reward to anybody has ever come without a risk associated with it. Right now, I keep running into a wall of jibber jabber, concepts and procedures that is audio mastering. And let me tell you, it is one tough thing to master.

Anybody know of any good tutorials out there? I’m getting the basics, but am stuck on a few key concepts. And until I get all this down pat, I’m afraid my music production isn’t going nowhere fast.

It’s one thing for the song to be awesome, but this music video is on point, too. One can assume by listening to the lyrics that “Years” is autobiographical for Alesso, but it’s a bold move to actually show his life. Bold. But I like it. Really well done. Also, Matthew Koma was a great snag for the vocals. He got a lot of attention for the work he did on Zedd’s smash “Spectrum.” He’s one to watch, too.

Alesso has had a huge year and the way things are looking, it’s only going to go up for him from here.
