Today, I launched a contest on the A-Land Facebook page. It basically takes the shape as your run of the mill caption contest. A simple, yet effective way for brands to engage their fans.
I wanted to design a logo to give the contest some identity, so here’s what I came up with. For this purpose, I placed it on top the colored background. Normally, it’s a PNG, which is then used on the particular photo being captioned.
The kerning is a little off in some spots, creating unwanted blocks of white, but that’s easily fixable. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it came out.

I had it easy

As the Promotions Director of WICB. Or maybe “work” just didn’t seem like “work.” At the time, I didn’t realize how easy it was to launch social media promotions when you already had a growing fan base. Since A-Land’s social media presence has been struggling since its inception, I’m growing to see how the toughest part about social media is getting your presence off the ground. But finally, off the ground we are, with our Twitter seeing a 40% follower growth in the past month. With the account now gaining four or five followers a day, I’m excited to start some contests and give away prizes. We still have a long way to go, though, until I feel comfortable in saying that we have a well-established social media presence. But hey, I’ve always been up for a challenge. Life’s more fun that way.
